I want to know what the Substack experience is like from your perspective.
While reading the newsletter is the only thing I can ask of you, I do enjoy receiving feedback either through a comment or email response. For the purposes of these email, it would really help me to hear from as many of you as possible, in order to learn if you’re actually receiving emails to your Primary inbox, and to hear any other thoughts or questions about the Substack platform. I’ve learned that some Reader’s receive newsletters in their Promotions folder—even my test emails go to my Promotions, not my Primary inbox—and I hope to improve this.
Ways to respond:
Comment on the post (I believe you need to make a Substack account to do this, but correct me if I’m wrong).
I like this option as it adds to the original story and others can add to the interconnected web of shared information, thereby creating connections and building community.
Email response
This option is great if the response is something more personal, with no business being out on the internet. I purposely linked my Substack to a ProtonMail email account for added privacy and protection.
If you’ve received a newsletter in your Promotions folder, clink “Move to tab ——> Primary” (if using Gmail). Also, try adding my email—kylepeterson@substack.com—as an email contact of yours. (Emails to the @substack.com get rerouted to my ProtonMail account, confusing I know). I have heard these actions may help recognize the sender for future newsletters.
In other news, I have one week left in the first year of my Master of Public Health program! It feels presumptuous to say that—with a weekend full of homework and three unfinished projects—but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Everyone says grad school is a whirlwind of opportunity and hard work, and it’s 100% true, but it’s hard to imagine the grind until you’re entrenched in it. And then comes a point when the grind becomes the norm, and like a fish swimming in water, you cease to notice it. But water is still heavy, and the weight has pushed me down at times. I’m extremely excited for summer to arrive in Boise and for my CSA volunteer position with Global Gardens to begin!
I will now leave you with a picture of a mushroom white sauce pasta I made a few weeks back, just because. As always, thanks for reading!
Comes to my email as well. I had to login to comment, however.
Comes to my email, but at the beginning I had to mark that it wasn't spam.
I want some of that pasta, too.
