Sometimes I can’t sleep. Or my heart’s racing. Or I’m distracted by intrusive thoughts and would like to let go. Lately, these and other undesirable states have led me to audio stories, like this one below:
I appreciate Headspace, the creators of this and other sleep videos, for their varied approach to meditative practices. Meditation doesn’t have to look, feel, or sound the way many of us traditionally picture it: crossed legs, eyes closed, and “Oooommmmmmm”. Everyday activities can help calm the mind, including things like going for a walk, listening to music, or reading/listening to a story.
I’ve become more sympathetic to the fact that different people—or the same person at different times—prefer differing modes of storytelling. Reading can be relaxing, but it can also be work and not the peaceful interlude we could all use during or at the end of a busy day. With this in mind, I reached out to a audio creator on Fiverr, a freelance service website, and had them narrate the short story Come One, Come All, which I’ve shared in a previous newsletter.
I hope you find the time today to let go. Here’s my attempt at helping you do so.
Thanks for reading :)
I listened to a podcast the other day that asked when the last time I took a deep breath was without being reminded/prompted. It’s probably been months…
It’s good to check in with yourself sometimes!
